Bama Beach Bum headed out on his Bonafide P127 kayak, ready to take us fishing in one of his favorite rivers this time of the year. He was equipped with live shrimp and live bull minnows and was eager to fish some structure in the river.

The morning was beautiful, and the sun was shining, which Bama Beach Bum found a bit challenging as the sun was right in his face. However, there was plenty of structure in the river, including pilings and other places for fish to hide.

Bama Beach Bum fished around the pilings with a Carolina Rig, using a quarter-ounce egg sinker, a barrel swivel, 17-pound fluorocarbon line, and a size 2 circle hook. He also had some J Hooks in case he ran into some sheepshead, which he preferred to fish with J Hooks.

Bama Beach Bum's patience paid off as he reeled in his first fish of the day, a sheepshead. Despite not being a massive fan of sheepshead fishing, he was excited to have a few fish in the refrigerator. He did admit that sheepshead fishing can be slow and challenging.

Sheephead, a species of saltwater fish, is a popular catch for anglers in the Gulf of Mexico and along the southeastern coast of the United States. They are often found near structures such as pilings, jetties, and rocks and feed on mollusks, crustaceans, and other small creatures.

It was chilly that morning, around 50 degrees, but Bama Beach Bum was determined to repeat the process and catch more fish. He even had a surprise fish hit, and that unexpected catch can be seen in the video.

Bama Beach Bum reminded us that sheepshead fishing may not be his favorite style. Still, it can be an excellent opportunity to catch fish during this time of year. And with a little bit of patience and determination, anyone can have a successful fishing trip in cooler weather.
